Plus-MINT kooperiert mit London International Youth Science Forum

(scroll down to read in english version) Ab dem Jahr 2026 vergibt plus-MINT jedes Jahr einen “Preis für herausragende Leistungen im plus-MINT Programm”. Der Preisträger bzw. die Preisträgerin darf Deutschland beim renommierten London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF) vertreten. Das hat der Vorstand des Vereins zur MINT-Talentförderung e.V. nun einstimmig beschlossen – und öffnet damit jungen Talenten ein Fenster zur internationalen Wissenschaftswelt.
Das LIYSF ist eines der bedeutendsten internationalen Foren für Nachwuchswissenschaftler im Alter von 16 bis 21 Jahren. Rund 500 Jugendliche aus über 80 Ländern kommen jedes Jahr am Imperial College London zusammen, um zwei Wochen lang Spitzenforschung hautnah zu erleben: in Vorträgen, Workshops, Laborbesuchen und Exkursionen zu führenden Forschungseinrichtungen in Großbritannien.

Plus-MINT macht Internationalisierung konkret
Mit der neuen Kooperation geht plus-MINT einen konsequenten Schritt in Richtung Internationalisierung und Spitzenförderung. Neben der fachlichen Exzellenz stehen Offenheit, Neugier und die Bereitschaft zum Austausch im Mittelpunkt – Eigenschaften, die das LIYSF ideal verkörpert und die junge MINT-Talente auf ihrem Weg in die Wissenschaft entscheidend stärken.
Die Teilnahme ist komplett kostenfrei für das ausgewählte Talent: Sowohl die Teilnahmegebühr (inkl. Unterkunft, Verpflegung und Programm) als auch die Reise nach London werden vom Verein zur MINT-Talentförderung übernommen. Möglich macht das auch eine Kooperationsvereinbarung zwischen LIYSF und plus-MINT – ein Zeichen der Wertschätzung und des Vertrauens in die Qualität unseres Förderprogramms.

Auswahl durch Jury – Vorschlagsrecht bei den Internaten
Teilnahmeberechtigt sind plus-MINT Talente, die mindestens 16 Jahre alt sind, sich durch herausragende Leistungen in einem MINT-Fachbereich hervorgetan haben und gleichzeitig soziales Engagement im Internat, Eigenmotivation und gute Englischkenntnisse mitbringen. Jedes plus-MINT Internat kann jährlich bis zu zwei Kandidaten vorschlagen, über die finale Auswahl entscheidet eine Jury aus Vorstand und Geschäftsführung.

Die Kooperation mit dem LIYSF ist mehr als eine Auszeichnung – sie ist ein starkes Bekenntnis zur internationalen Ausrichtung und zur nachhaltigen Förderung junger Talente. Sie zeigt, dass plus-MINT nicht nur Leistung anerkennt, sondern jungen Menschen konkrete Türen öffnet – zu globaler Vernetzung, interkulturellem Austausch und wissenschaftlicher Inspiration.
New Horizons for STEM Talents: plus-STEM Launches Partnership with the London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF)
Starting in 2026, one outstanding and committed participant of the german plus-STEM programme will have the opportunity each year to represent Germany at the prestigious London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF). This decision was recently approved unanimously by the board of the Verein zur MINT-Talentförderung e.V., opening a gateway to the international world of science for young German talents.
The LIYSF is one of the world’s leading international forums for young scientists aged 16 to 21. Every year, around 500 students from over 80 countries gather at the Imperial College London to experience two weeks of cutting-edge science — including lectures, workshops, lab visits, and excursions to leading research institutions across the UK.
plus-STEM Makes Internationalisation Tangible
With this new cooperation, plus-STEM is taking a consistent step towards internationalisation and excellence in talent development. In addition to academic performance, openness, curiosity, and a willingness to engage in exchange are central – values that LIYSF embodies and that are essential for the development of young scientists.
Participation will be completely free of charge for the selected student: both the participation fee (including accommodation, meals, programme) and travel expenses to and from London will be covered by the association. This has been made possible through an exclusive memorandum of understanding between plus-STEM and LIYSF – a sign of mutual appreciation and trust in the quality of the programme.
Selection by Jury – Nominations from Boarding Schools
Eligible students must be part of the plus-STEM programme, at least 16 years old at the time of the forum, and demonstrate outstanding achievement in a STEM field, strong social engagement, high intrinsic motivation, and good English skills. Each plus-MINT boarding school may nominate up to two candidates per year. The final selection will be made by a jury consisting of the board and the programme’s management.
